I am completely drained of all energy that fuels my living days. I went to my first English football match last night (or shall we call it soccer?), and let me tell you–it was all a bit surreal. You all think I’m crazy, but when you grow up in a far far away land called Alaska and see living, breathing, stars on the field in person… It’s just all a bit shocking because they are living, breathing, stars that play on a field. For real!
Okay, I’ve gone a bit haywire. But I thought it was cool. This is a new breakthrough in my life.
A brand new chapter.
All right–whatevs–I’ll move on.
I don’t know if I would say I’m notorious for wearing summer pieces in the winter; I’ve just found myself doing to often lately. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I haven’t seen the hot sun in years. And wearing sunny clothes will make the heat gravitate towards me (I’ll keep on trying). The wonderful thing about a slip dress is that you can wear it all year round and dress it up or down as you will! It’s perfect for layering with a t-shirt underneath–or wearing with some heels for a night out. Most definitely worth an investment!
I’ll tell you what–I’ve been hunting this dress down for about 6 months now. 6 months. I saw it at WEEKDAY in Oslo this past summer and couldn’t muck up the courage to overcome the price tag. THEN, when I returned to Oslo for the holidays, I saw it again, and this time it was on the sales rack (score!). But if you’ve read my last post (here), I can inform you that this is the item I was walking to the till with when I saw the green sweater of my dreams. And then the dress was put back on the rack. I figured it was only fate that I should have it, because I found it further reduced at the brand new WEEKDAY in London (we have one now, hoorah!). This was my last chance and I wasn’t going to let it slip again.
I realize that story is probably utterly boring and unrelated to anything–but now you know the story of the dress.
I can’t describe the texture specifically–the material feels like it’s satin and almost velvety and it makes my world spin round. It’s so comfortable! Layer it with a blanket of a cardigan and you’ll be comfy and cozy all day long. And when you’re ready to go home, you can lounge some more! (I’m all about comfort). Anything oversized is good to have for those days where you just can’t. This is definitely going to stay a staple in my wardrobe for a long time.
